A Study on Non Cholera Virbrio isolated from the Cholera Epidemic in Korea in 1969

Abstract
|
|
|
Through the screening test of 128 strains which were isolated from the Chonbuk, Korea, from August to September, 1969. 55 strains were non-Cholera Vibrios(NCV) and 73 El-Tor Cholera Vibrios.
1. Among 55 NCV, 43 vibro strains were classified to 16 non-agglutinable (NAG), 6 holophilic and 21 uncertain, and 12 strains were non-vibrios.
2. Of 16 NAG strains, 8 strains were biologically similar to the Cholera vibrio while were different only at the string test and 3 were different at the string and Arginine tests.
3. In the biological characteristics, 6 holophilic vibrio strains were similar to Vibrio parahemolyticus but not agglutinated with the antiserum.
4. NAG vibrios were isolated from three specimens from which El-Tor vibrios were also detected.
